Every year, SWANA shows their commitment to post secondary
education through scholarships. The SWANA Northern Lights
Chapter Scholarship was established in 1989 for the children
and grandchildren of SWANA members entering post secondary
education. Two scholarships of $500 each are awarded in the
fall. The first of the two scholarship is available to a student
entering their first year of post secondary education and
the other is for a post secondary student in any year other
than their entry year. The program they are enrolled in should
have some broad potential future linkage to solid waste management
or environmental services.
In the event that the scholarships are not claimed, the unclaimed
scholarships will be awarded the next year, in addition to
the two annual scholarships.
