Alberta Landfill Facility Operator Certification

The Northern Lights Chapter of SWANA administers the Alberta Landfill Facility Operator Certification Program on behalf of Alberta Environment and the Government of Alberta. The program is governed by the Alberta Landfill and Composting Facility Operator Certification Guideline which can be downloaded from the link below.

Certification Exam Schedule:

Fees:

First-time applicant: $200 +gst (Cdn)
Renewal (exam not required): $125 +gst (Cdn)

Instructions for applying to the Alberta Landfill Facility Operator Certification Program:

1. Fill out and submit application form. Click Here to download the Alberta Landfill Facility Operator Certification APPLICATION Form. *Please ensure the application is filled out completely.
2. Submit your application to the SWANA office. The following options are available for payment.
   1. Include a check or money order with your mailed or faxed application to:

   2. Pay with your credit card using our online registration system. *Please ensure if you are using this method that you also send in your completed application to the office. Click Here to Pay Online

For First Time Applicants
For first time applicants a letter will be sent to the address on your application at least 10 days prior to the examination date. The letter will indicate whether you have been approved by the Northern Lights Chapter’s Alberta Certification Review Committee to write the exam.

If accepted, the letter will provide information on the date, time, location, and other details regarding the exam. If rejected, the reason for rejection will be provided and a partial refund of the application fee will be issued.
